Henry covers a Rise Japan event supporting earthquake relief efforts.
00:15 You're looking at a previous Rise Japan event. 00:19 Groups of artists, California artists gathered together, donated art and sold the art on behalf of the victims of the Japanese tsunami and earthquake. 00:31 It's a wonderful creative response to what has been a devastating tragedy in Japan. 00:38 And the fourth version, the fourth volume of Rise Japan is about to take place. 00:44 And let me introduce you to one of the organizers of Rise Japan, Aoi Yamaguchi. 00:50 Thank you for joining us. 00:51 So in the past, you've had people, artists selling and donating what kinds of products, what kinds of creations? 00:59 So many different artists from all over the world, San Francisco and New UK and Japan donated their artwork, photography and paintings. 01:08 and also music producers and food vendors also donated their food and drinks. 01:13 We happen to have a handy bit of music that was donated here. 01:17 Thank you very much, Mellow Orange, Last Resort, Freddie Lachim. 01:23 And videographers have been shooting it. 01:26 We had some nice video earlier that showed the previous event. 01:29 So, volume four is about silk screen. 01:33 Yes. 01:34 Can you explain the idea of what kinds of things people can buy at that event? 01:39 Yeah, so for this event that's happening tomorrow, we are asking visitors to bring their own T-shirt or sweatshirt. 01:46 That's like anything that's laying around in the room and then just bring them. 01:51 And so we'll have different designs. 01:53 So like you're bringing your own T-shirt, for example? 01:56 Yeah. 01:57 So you take a blank T-shirt like this. 01:59 Okay. 02:00 And then? 02:01 And then so this is called a screen. 02:04 It's for six screen printing and we have 28 different designs for this event. 02:10 So we're going to have examples of the designs on the wall so you get to pick your favorite design. 02:15 And so you could do it on a shirt, you could do it on posters like this, or you could even do it on a bag like this. 02:23 Okay, so let me tell folks where you can see this event and where you can bring almost anything. 02:30 You could probably silk train on your arm, I suppose, or on your back if you want to. 02:34 Some people even mention, oh, I'm going to bring my car. 02:37 I guess that would work. 02:39 It's Rise Japan. 02:41 It's happening tomorrow, 1 to 7 p.m. 02:43 There's an after party as well, by the way. 02:45 It's at Studio 931, 931 Treat Avenue in San Francisco. 02:49 Go to RiseJapan.us. 02:52 Thank you very much for the wonderful event. 02:55 Marty, Isabel, back to you. 02:57 Okay, Henry, thanks a lot.
