Summary

TV

Article Text

Santa Rosa Preparatory... initially on BayTV. And some KRON shows will be repeated, too, including Channel 4's early "Daybreak" 6 a.m. newscast, which will be rerun two hours later on the nascent cable channel. BayTV, to help fill up two hours of its 24-hour clock, will carry Gary Radnich's KNBR radio sports-talk show from noon to 2 p.m. weekdays. Other BayTV highlights: A live show, "BayTV Morning," hosted by former KYA Radio morning man Terry McGovern. Channel 4's opinionated news anchor, Pete Wilson, will serve as host for what Shenosky called a "no-holds-barred" talk show, "BayTV Prime," at 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Radnich will do the Friday show, entertainment reporter Henry Tenenbaum will be the Thursday host. The lead anchor for the news channel is veteran KRON newscaster Evan White. He'll anchor the cable station's hour-long centerpiece newscast, "BayTV News," weeknights at 7. Van Amburg will be host on the weekend version. White will also anchor a one-hour talk program -- also a call-in -- at equal times, "BayTV Live," at 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with experienced reporter Vic Lee serving as host on Friday nights. "A lot of shows will change in the weeks to come," said the upbeat Dobbins. "We're still in the experimental stage." BayTV is sharing both staff and facilities with KRON, and Shenosky said many of the news stories on BayTV will be interchangeable as well. "We may use a KRON news story and lengthen it," the news executive said. "You hear a lot about interactive TV," said Shenosky, "and here it is -- viewers will be able to call in many of our news shows." BayTV also will do plenty of time-shifting because of staff and cost limitations, at least at first. Most of the prime-time shows will be repeated several times during the day. KRON high-tech reporter Richard Hart's cable science series, "The Next Step," will be seen twice daily on BayTV. "But our mission is this: We want to take the time to examine local issues and have regionalized coverage," said Shenosky. Bill Mann's weekly TV column appears in the Sunday On Q section.
